Processing time: Online FAFSA submissions are typically processed in 1–3 days, while mailed forms take 7–10 days.
After processing, you’ll receive your FAFSA Submission Summary, a digital summary of everything you submitted. Review it carefully to make sure your information is correct and complete.
If you notice any mistakes, log in to StudentAid.gov and make your corrections right away.
Your Summary includes your Student Aid Index (SAI), the number schools use to estimate your eligibility for need-based aid, including the Federal Pell Grant.
Once your FAFSA is processed, your FAFSA Submission Summary is automatically sent to the colleges you listed. Each school uses this data to determine your federal and nonfederal financial aid eligibility.
Next, your schools (including CIU) review your FAFSA information. If you’re selected for verification, we’ll ask for documentation to confirm your details. Once verified, we’ll create your financial aid offer and send it to you.
At CIU, we’re here to help you every step of the way. Contact the Financial Aid Office if you have questions about required documents, your aid status, or your award letter.
